C-I Thrive Walking Tours on May 14

Spring has arrived, and we’re excited to announce the C-I Thrive Walking Tours! On Saturday, May 14, we’ll lead groups of Steering Committee members and residents through and between some well-loved pedestrian routes in Ingram and Crafton. As we’re walking, we’ll have conversations about walkability in our towns:  what are our favorite places to walk, how can we link them, and where can we make improvements?

One of the strong qualities of Crafton and Ingram’s neighborhoods is their walkable, small-town feel. Let’s build on this opportunity. As part of C-I Thrive, we’ll be creating initiatives for enhanced walkability, and we want to hear from you! For more information on walkability and connectivity, click here.

Join us for an active morning or afternoon walk around town—stretch your legs and help provide important input for the C-I Thrive plan!

Saturday, May 14, 2016

9:30 am – 12:00 pm

We’ll meet at the Crafton-Ingram Plaza sign across from Ingram Park. This walk will move to the intersection of Prospect Avenue, Ingram Avenue and Center Street, then turn back along Ingram Avenue and loop around the shopping plaza. We’ll end along Foster Avenue at Ingram Park.

Saturday, May 14, 2016

1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

We’ll meet at the Crafton Park parking lot. This walk will move along Crafton Boulevard. With enough participation, we’ll be able to split into teams to assess up to three connections:  the trail to CIT Park, the Crafton Boulevard “backbone” extending to the Steuben Street intersection, and the Crafton Boulevard “backbone” extending in the other direction to the Baldwick Road intersection. We’ll end up at Crafton Park together.

The main goals of these walking tours:

1.       Identify safety issues and other barriers to better connectivity.

2.       Suggest additional connections that could branch off these walking routes.

3.       Identify ways that these walking routes can be improved.

4.       Create a walk-and-talk forum to discuss how to encourage connectivity and walkability.

Feel free to contact us with questions (see our Contact page or I’d Like to… form). Hope to see you there!
